Lawyer Miguna Miguna has launched a scathing attack on National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director General Noordin Haji, just moments after Haji appeared before Parliament urging lawmakers to allocate more funds to Kenya’s security agencies.
In a statement shared on Twitter, Miguna dismissed Haji’s budget plea, calling him an “abductor, torturer and mass murderer” who should not be addressing the nation on matters of security.
The outspoken lawyer went as far as to claim that Haji “deserves 180 years in jail for crimes against humanity,” accusing him of presiding over serious human rights violations.
“Noordin Haji is an abductor, torturer and mass murderer. The criminal should not lecture Kenyans. He deserves 180 years in jail for crimes against humanity,” Miguna wrote.
His comments came shortly after Haji appeared before the National Assembly’s Committee on Defense and Foreign Relations.
In his remarks to lawmakers, Haji warned that ongoing budget shortfalls are hampering the country’s ability to protect its borders, monitor threats, and respond to growing national and regional security challenges.
Haji appealed for increased investment in intelligence operations, surveillance technology, and logistical support for field officers, stressing that national security is at risk without adequate funding.
However, Miguna, a fierce critic of the Kenyan security establishment, dismissed the call, accusing Haji of lacking the moral authority to speak on security matters.
Miguna has previously accused the state of abducting and deporting him illegally in 2018, a move that drew widespread criticism from rights groups and the international community.
The strong remarks are likely to fuel ongoing debate about accountability within Kenya’s security institutions, and the role of intelligence officials in past and current state operations.
